PandoDaily Hires It’s First Copy Editor!
I’m thrilled to announce that Nathan Pensky is joining the PandoDaily team as our new copy editor today. He’ll be doing all sorts of old media-esque things like creating a PandoDaily style guide and declaring war on split infinitives.
Sometimes he’ll come in with his grammar mop and scrub brush before we post and sometimes after. Either way, we’ll work hard to deliver you mistake-and-typo-free stories on as timely a basis as blogging allows.
Like a lot of the Pando staff, Nathan has been published widely in the old and new media worlds at publications like Boing Boing, Movieline and McSweeney’s. He has been a contributor to the books and culture blogs at Forbes and the NY Daily News and associate editor for feature interviews at PopMatters. (He’ll probably sneak back into this post and italicize some of those. That’s how he rolls.)
Everyone on staff is well aware of how much we need Nathan, and we look forward to him making our work way better. In addition to copy editing, Nathan will be writing culture pieces from time-to-time on the site, and will be an acting art director coordinating our efforts to get more illustrations and info-graphics into the mix.
He’ll also work to keep some peace in the comments until we get a better moderating system. (It’s on the way. WordPress VIP is holding us up a bit.)
Commenter carrot: I’ve given him carte blanche to give away t-shirts to insightful commenters. Commenter stick: He also has carte blanche to ban trolls.
