Lockhart Steele Joins the Board of PandoMedia
I decided on a whim to outscoop this post last night at PandoMonthly, when I announced that PandoMedia is adding Lockhart Steele to our board of directors.
I’m lucky enough to know a lot of great entrepreneurs to turn to for advice, but most of them have built tech companies, not content companies. While some elements of entrepreneurship are universal, the two are really different beasts. One of the great pleasures of building a company is surrounding yourself with amazing people you can learn from. And Lockhart (yes, that’s his real name) is one person whose time I always wish I had more of.
Lockhart was the managing editor of Gawker Media and left in 2007 to build Curbed, a burgeoning blog empire that includes Eater, Curbed, and Racked. Anytime I go to New York, I insist on a sit-down, because I love talking about the media business with him, and he gets treated like royalty in every hip restaurant in New York.
When I was thinking about who we could add to the board who had both highly relevant experience and could give us some outside-the-tech-bubble perspective, Lockhart was the natural pick. Our Executive Chairman Andrew Anker agreed, and we’re thrilled that he accepted.
Like Andrew and me, Lock is also a rabid baseball fan. Unfortunately both of them like awful teams. Our company’s productivity may grind to a halt if there’s every a three-way World Series between the Oakland A’s (Yay!), the Giants (Semi-boo!) and the BoSox (Major boo!).
Follow Lock on Twitter here, and please help welcome him to the bi-coastal PandoMedia family!
