The entrepreneur and investor, Ellen Siminoff has been appointed to Zynga’s board of directors. Siminoff will also join Zynga’s audit committee. Siminoff is the current CEO of Shmoop University, an educational publishing company that aims to “reduce the friction in learning.” Siminoff was also Yahoo’s founding executive and Senior Vice President and sits on the board at Journal Communications, Inc., Mozilla Corporation, Solarwinds, Inc. and U.S. Auto Parts Network, Inc.

“Ellen has great experience and insights operating web businesses at scale and brings a passion for consumer internet products,” said Mark Pincus, CEO and Founder, Zynga, who will be appearing this evening at PandoMonthly for a fireside chat with Sarah Lacy.

“Zynga is truly about deep connections between people, and the company has built a significant, engaged player community around the benefits of play and social,” says Siminoff, amid recent drops in both stock and user base.

The social gaming company’s latest addition to their board of directors was the former Chair and CEO of Efficient Frontier, a search engine marketing management provider that hit $1 billion in spend under her lead and was named one of the 25 most valuable privately-held companies in Silicon Valley. Siminoff joins Zynga’s board while the company has recently been in rough water with its shares sinking to all-time lows after a poorly timed purchase of OMGPOP.
