Akron basketball team adds Twitter handles to jerseys
Sorry purists, but the almighty basketball jersey is getting a social media makeover. CBS Sports reports that the Akron Men’s and Women’s basketball teams will put the program’s Twitter handle on the backs of jerseys as part of the team’s “Social Media Night” this Saturday. This could definitely turn into a trend for both college and pro teams, though I doubt the NCAA and pro leagues would allow players to put their personal Twitter handles on jerseys. That said, I could totally see a player like JaVale McGee legally changing his name to “@JaValeMcGee34″ to buck the system. [Source: CBS Sports]
