Amazon Redshift available today, takes on data warehouse big boys
After revealing plans for its Redshift a data warehouse service in November, Amazon announced broad availability of the service today. The company claims that the technology is as low as one tenth the price of legacy solutions from IBM, HP, Oracle, and EMC. Its two price tiers, High Storage Extra Large and High Storage Eight Extra Large carry an effective price of $3,723 per terabyte per year for storage and processing.
