AOL has released Alto, a new, Web-based email client that makes it easier to manage multiple IMAP accounts, in private beta. ”Mail usage has changed, but clients haven’t changed much since the original AOL Mail,”Joshua Ramirez, the senior director of product for AOL Mail and Alto, told The Verge. ”The last time there was a major mail innovation was 2004 when Gmail launched, but if you look at today it’s feature-wise almost the same.” Naturally, AOL thinks that the solution to that problem may be Alto.
