PC maker Asus is talking to Microsoft about a licensing deal for a new “Padfone” (ie, a phablet) that would run Windows 8. An Asus executive told the Wall Street Journal that the move would boost its fledgling smartphone business. Asus also makes Google’s Nexus 7 tablet.
