Cloud storage startup Bitcasa has raised $7 million to begin offering consumers “infinite storage” for all of their devices for $10 a month. The round was led by Pelion Venture Partners and Horizons Ventures, with participation from Andreessen Horowitz, First Round Capital, CrunchFund, and Samsung Ventures. The company’s CEO called Dropbox, Box, SugarSync, and Google Drive, “more sync companies than storage companies.” All files stored with Bitcasa live entirely on the company’s servers and are client-side encrypted. The service works on devices running Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux, and it is compatible with HTML5 mobile browsers.
