Carrier-backed Isis Mobile Wallet launches test markets, Austin and Salt Lake City
Carrier-led mobile payments platform Isis launched in its first two test markets today: Austin, Texas and Salt Lake City, Utah. A&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon subscribers in these regions (with supported handsets) can swap out their existing SIM-cards for enhanced models and then download the Isis Mobile Wallet app to begin making NFC-enabled payments. In addition to the above carrier partners, Isis partners include hardware companies Verifone, Ingenico, Device Fidelity and ViVOtech; banking companies Chase, Capital One, Barclaycard; payment networks Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express; and handset makers HTC, LG, Motorola, RIM, Samsung, and Sony Ericsson.
