At this morning’s Mobile World Congress, European digital chief Neelie Kroes committed €50 million ($65.3 million) into the development of next-generation 5G networks. The investment, made as part of a public and private partnership including major carriers such as Telefonica, Deutsche Telecom, and France Telecom with the goal of implementing 5G by 2020.
