Facebook Fights to Show That Likes Are Protected by the First Amendment
In a recent court case, the U.S. District Judge Raymond Jackson dismissed a claim by six employees of the Hampton, Va. sheriff’s department that they had been wrongfully fired for “liking” the Facebook page of a candidate opposing the sheriff in a 2009 election. Facebook then entered this legal dispute on behalf of their users by filing for a friend-of-the-court briefing. [Source: CNET]
