Facebook Releases Updated, Truly Native iOS Apps
Facebook has updated its apps for the iPhone and iPad today, and the company has ditched HTML5 for clean, straight-up Objective-C. The switch should help make the apps a bit less clunky and fix a number of bugs associated with running a Web app in a barely-native shell. “We have Web in our bones. We would love the Web to be as capable as native to simplify development. But it’s just not there today,” Cory Ondrejka, Facebook’s head of mobile engineering, told the New York Times about the change.
