Jay Parikh, the vice president for infrastructure engineering at Facebook, recently gave reporters an inside look at how the company has pushed the limits of computer science. More than 500 terabytes are sucked into the database each day, and Facebook’s homegrown system called Hive collects and keeps track of it all. [Source: Businessweek]
