FIFA May Approve Computer Technology for Monitoring Goal Lines
There are currently two different systems being considered by FIFA that will use computer technology to monitor goal lines during soccer matches. The first has been used in tennis tournaments and was developed by Hawk-Eye Innovations. It uses 10 high speed cameras paralleled with a 3D virtual image to deduce exactly where the ball has hit the ground. The second is GoalRef which uses a magnetic detection system.
