Google is said to be close to paying a $22.5 million settlement for ignoring Mobile Safari (the default browser on the iPhone) users’ wishes to not be tracked and adding “cookies” to the browser despite a very clear “Cookies are disabled” setting. The fine, which comes after an investigation by the FTC, is the largest that the organization has leveled against a company so far.
