HBO’s digital-only Nordic offering badly dissapoints
When HBO announced a stand-alone, digital only offering in the Nordic countries of Sweden, Finland, Denmark and Norway, many rejoiced. Today, there’s less excitement, following quality problems with the service and the company’s failure to live up to its ambitious feature promises. The supposedly HD service is only available in SD to some, and surround sound, buffering, and UI problems are also being reported. The final straw was that the company initially required a 12 month commitment with a three month cancellation policy, without any option to try the service first. It has since softened its stance, giving users a one month paid trial before signing a contract. [Source: TechDirt]
