IBM Making Cities Smarter
IBM has created an Intelligent Operations Center (IOC) which is able to “monitor, measure and manage city services such as water systems, public safety, transportation, hospitals, electricity grids and buildings.” With this kind of technology emergency responses are faster, pollution can be reduced, and traffic can become less congested. The good folks at Venture Beat interviewed Chris O’Connor, IBM’s vice president in charge of engineering and smart city products about the IOC.
