Intel comes clean about Ivy Bridge chips
At CES, Intel discussed its claim that the Ivy Bridge chips were being rated at 7 watts, an extremely low power chip by any standard. Well, it seems like Intel may have had to make a few adjustments to that claim. In a statement to CNET, the intel processor stated.” The TDP of the Y-processors are 13W.” Later on, in the statement, Intel claims, “Scenario Design Power (SDP), which provides a balance of performance vs. design power for mainstream touch-first usages and operates at 7W.” [Source: CNET]
