It was reported last week that CBS had forced its subsidiary CNET to remove the Dish Network’s Hopper set-top box from its “Best of CES” awards contest. Today, the evidence grows only-more damning. Apparently, the device was not only considered for an award, but had been chosen the winner by CNET editors. CBS CEO Leslie Moonves allegedly heard the news and sent down a decree from on high, demanding its removal from consideration. There is an ongoing litigation between CBS and Dist Network about the hopper. Moonves once told investors, “Hopper cannot exist… if Hopper exists, we will not be in business with (Dish).” Concerns over editorial independence abound. [Source: The Verge]
