You’ve probably heard the Manti Te’O story. Or, if you haven’t heard the story itself, you know that Deadspin broke some news that was quickly scooped up by just about every major sports-related publication. The resulting spike in traffic may have been good for Gawker’s traffic, but it won’t help its bank account — Ad Age reports that the company wasn’t able to quickly sell ad space against the new traffic, limiting its options (and its cash flow).
