MakerBot Is Determined to Take 3-D Printing Mainstream, Says It’s One Step Closer
MakerBot revealed its new 3-D printer Replicator 2 to Wired. The startup has spent four years working on an affordable, home 3-D printer that allows for fabricating objects layer-by-layer in a variety of materials. Replicator 2 is the first 3-D printer MakerBot has produced that is powered by a simple desktop application. Starting at $2,199, Replicator 2 won’t be available any time soon at a big box retailer, but that’s the eventual goal. MakerBot raised $10 million last year from investors such as Amazon founder Jeff Bezos. [Source: Wired]
