New York Times public editor rebukes Nate Silver over election bet
In a note on the New York Times’ Website, public editor Margaret Sullivan rebuked the Times’ resident stats wizard Nate Silver for proposing what he called a “half playful and half serious” bet against MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough over the outcome of the presidential race. Silver has been under fire from Scarborough and others over Silver’s algorithmic model which, for the past few months, has predicted an Obama win with around a 75 percent probability.
