Nokia mulling break-up with Microsoft? It’s complicated
According to a complicated translation exercise undertaken by a Spanish newspaper with a story based on an interview with Nokia CEO Stephen Elop, the Finnish handset maker may or may not be open to working with Android in the future, possibly scaring its forlorn current partner, Microsoft, whose Windows Phone 8 underpins Nokia’s leading smartphones. But also possibly not. All in all it seems like Nokia is being a bit passive-aggressive to its apparently rather disappointing partner, which has had to watch as Android consolidates its lead in the market and the iPhone continues to win the hearts and minds of consumers, their grandmothers, and their grandmothers’ grandmothers.
