Obama’s Google Hangout: Patents and education
In Obama’s Google Hangout today, one of the Americans selected to speak was Adafruit CEO Limon Fried. As you might expect from an entrepreneur, Fried posed questions related to technology, specifically patent reform and computer education. The president said the Leahy-Smith America Invents Act brought us closer to reasonable patent reform but we’re still only halfway there. On computer education, Obama agreed with Fried that computer programming should be given greater emphasis in high school, and could even be made into a required course much like foreign language study.
