Oracle acquires Acme Packet for $1.9B, Acme shareholders displeased
Always acquisitive enterprise software giant Oracle has agreed to acquire voice, and data communications networking technology company Acme Packet for a fully diluted value of $2.1 billion – the transaction valued the enterprise at $1.7 billion. The deal comes on the heels of 12 acquisitions made in 2012. Shortly after the transaction was announced, a law firm representing Acme’s shareholders announced that it would investigate the company’s board for breach of fiduciary duty related to the deal terms which some consider unfavorable.
