Twitter has announced that they will be rolling out a more forceful version of their ‘promoted Tweets’ method of advertising. Where the Tweets used to only show up in mobile clients if a user follows a brand, the new rollout will place promoted Tweets into someone’s timeline based on their interests and the device that he or she is using. Unlike the #dickbar, these Tweets can be removed from view and aren’t pinned to the top of the device.
