Researches turn to The New York Times archives to predict the future
Technologists believe The New York Times archive may hold the secret for the future. Eric Horvitz of Microsoft Research and Kira Radinsky of the Technion-Israel Institute have devised a test system that searches through over 20 years of news articles at The New York Times to see if there is a correlation between past and future events. If this test is a success, the model could be used to look at specific reports to see if larger patterns exist in order to predict disasters. [Source: The Verge]
