FinSpy computer espionage software designed to track criminals is allegedly being used by rogue governments to spy on dissidents, including those in Turkmenistan, Brunei, and Bahrain. The software, which has now been ported to all major mobile phone platforms, can grab images of computer screens, record Skype chats, turn on cameras and microphones, and log keystrokes. Even worse, it was specifically engineered it to elude antivirus software, meaning it’s proving extremely difficult to detect. [Source NYT]
