Time Warner becomes first to drop Current channel, post Al Jazeera acquisition
Time Warner Cable is the first major provider to announced it would no longer carry the Current channel following its $500 million acquisition by Al Jazeera – not to be confused with its previous owner Al Gore – earlier this week. Many predicted this type of response at the time of the transaction. Time Warner represents 12 million US households lost, leaving Current with a total distribution of 40 million homes if nothing else changes. [Source: Salon]
