UK libel laws make Tweeters liable for their Tweets
UK libel laws appear to dictate that Twitter is an “public act of publishing” and that Tweeters are criminally responsible for the things they write. The law is currently being applied to the thousands fo Tweets sent in response to a TV documentary about an accused child molester. Because the subject of the story has not yet been convicted, those disparaging him for his alleged crimes on the social network could be guilty of libel. [Source BoingBoing]
