We have to admit: With New York blanketed in snow and slush last Thursday we were a little concerned  anyone would bother to show up to our fireside chat with Vox Media CEO and Chairman Jim Bankoff.

There was never a need for worry: Bankoff knows how to fill the seats, and it became one of our most lively PandoMonthly New York events yet (that could have had something to do with the free whiskey but who can say?)

Bankoff, whose Vox Media properties include the Verge, SB Nation, and Ezra Klein's new "Project X," held forth on a number of topics like: Why building a great media company, even in 2014, is expensive; How Vox's sites avoid relying too much on Facebook for traffic; Bankoff's grand ambitions for the Vox media brand; And why it's better to be Marissa Mayer than Tim Armstrong.
