What are you doing on Monday at noon, pacific time?

Ok, that's cool. But what else are you doing?

That’s right. On Monday at noon Pacific you’re tuning in to the start of our very first Pando Patron-athon – a very special radio show that forms part of our ongoing “Profitability or Bust” campaign.

The show, broadcast live at, will be hosted by the two of us, with contributions from Pando writers like Dan Raile, Mark Ames and the War Nerd.  It will also feature special guest interviews with the stars of the tech world, listener call-ins, contests to win an array of startup-related prizes… and of course all of the horrible music you’ve come to expect from a show co-hosted by Paul.

It’s going to be really, really fun.

The real purpose of the show is a subscription drive to get us even closer to our target of 5,000 members by the end of the year. Throughout the Patron-a-thon we’ll be encouraging listeners to become Pando Patrons and in doing so help us to continue doing truly independent journalism.

Also, sponsored by those same Patrons, we'll be giving away 50 free Pando memberships live on air every hour to anyone who can't afford the regular membership rate. All you have to do is tune in.

But none of that is the really fun part. The really fun part is that the Patron-a-thon has no fixed end time. Initially, the show is scheduled to run for two hours. Then for every $10 we bring in, via sales of Pando Patron slots, regular subscriber sign ups, or other random stuff we’re planning to sell on air -- we’ll add one minute to the running time. So, every Pando Patron signed up during the show adds 50 mins to the duration.  The show won’t end until listeners stop buying stuff. (A terrifying thought: In the highly unlikely event we were to sell every remaining Patron slot during the show, we’ll be  broadcasting non-stop for over 30 hours.)

Former NSFWCORP subscribers will likely recognize this as a variation on NSFWCORP’s Conflictathon, which ended up running for close to 28 hours, and was responsible for some of the most entertaining (and by the end, delirious) audio programming we ever produced. If you’re in any way interested in the tech and startup worlds -- and top 40 country music -- you won't want to miss this.
