Join us in SF on Thursday for PandoMonthly with DoorDash's Tony Xu and Sequoia's Alfred Lin
Our very last PandoMonthly-- ever-- is this Thursday in San Francisco.
All year, we’ve been telling you our guests would be legendary operator and VC Alfred Lin of Sequoia Capital and Instacart founder and CEO Apoorva Mehta. Unfortunately, Mehta had to pull out for personal reasons.
Filling his shoes and sharing the stage with Lin will be another of portfolio company CEOs who is no stranger to high valuations and controversy over whether they are justified: Tony Xu of DoorDash.
It’s not only kind of Xu to step up, it’s good timing for us. DoorDash has been in the news a lot lately. Along with Postmates it was eviscerated in a Medium post penned by Grubhub founder Matt Maloney… about the same time it was rumored to be closing in on a new unicorn round of funding to be lead by… Sequoia.
Meantime, DoorDash, Postmates, and Instacart for that matter have all been companies that others have accused of burning too much cash with unsustainable models.
As we end a year with mixed startup economics, debates about an oncoming bust or one we’re already in the middle of, and general anxiety and fear about just how bad things might get… or conversely that mega deals may never end, I can’t think of a better combo of guests.
