I’m used to big-name entrepreneurs and investors reading Pando every day. But I am still delighted and surprised when I discover prominent Pando fans in adjacent industries.

Like when I found out the CEO of Crossfit Greg Glassman was an avid reader (and subscriber.) Or when I see Harry Shearer -- voice of the fictional evil billionaire Mr. Burns-- sharing an unlocked story about an actual evil billionaire.

Last week, I had one of these moments, while at dinner with a good friend and techie Jan D’Alessandro. She mentioned that a friend of hers was hounding her to come to Pandoland Chicago in June, because he was so excited about it coming to his hometown this year. That friend? Jimmy Chamberlin. Yep, the drummer of the Smashing Pumpkins. The drummer of the Smashing Pumpkins is telling people they have to come to Pandoland.

W.T.F.

Obviously we’re putting Jimmy Chamberlin on stage. He has kindly agreed to do a fireside chat to talk about his career, the music industry and his second act getting involved with Chicago’s tech scene, where he’s an investor, mentor and former CEO and co-founder of LiveOne. He and D’Alessandro are currently consulting for media, technology and entertainment companies, and the two of them will also lead a small, interactive breakout session later in the day too.

To recap: We’ve got Margaret Atwood, the author of The Handmaid’s Tale, Blind Assassin and Oryx & Crake; Max Levchin, the creator PayPal and don of the all-powerful PayPal mafia; Dick Costolo, the former CEO of Twitter-turned-HBO writer; four of Chicago’s best tech founders ever in Brian Spaly, Sam Yagan, Matt Maloney, and Bill Ready; another best selling author in Nancy Jo Sales, and now the drummer from the Smashing Pumpkins all on the same stage June 14, speaking to a limited audience of just 250 people. (And that’s not even the entire line up.)

You’ve already bought your ticket, right?

We are not fully sold out yet, but at the rate tickets are selling we definitely will do, just as we always have in previous years.

Don’t wait until it’s too late! Get your Pandoland ticket right here.

See you in Chicago!
