Back before I had children, VC David Hornik was one of the only people I know who could tell me endless stories about his kids and I would sit and avidly listen. Part of that was because his four kids were all distinct characters. But a lot of it was because Hornik’s love and amusement of his children was so evident it made me love and be amused by them.

When my “Uterus is a feature not a bug” Patrons finally put me over the $2000/show goal, I said I’d add a monthly dad episode, and Hornik had to be my first pick.

In this episode we discuss some VCs’ bias against funding parents-- both male and female. But we also discuss the pros and cons of raising kids in a place like Silicon Valley, the fine line between engaging your kids passions and spoiling them, and the impact on the ecosystem of so many VC’s wives not working.

The best part? Hornik was dropping his kid off at the doctor and walking the dog as we recorded. Talk about “Leaning In.”
